I find that science fair projects keep repeating themsleves throughout the years in school. Students are using the same science fair projects and not thinking out of the box to create something new. I think that as teachers we need to push the students to create something new. I teach the scientific method in a way that the students are always questioning their observations and we need to teach them that these observations are what can lead to GREAT science fair projects. we can give them many resources online to create projects but the best ones come from thier own curiosities and observations that they make on an everyday basis.
